Rhode Island Economic Development Professional Paul Harden Named Boater of the Year

Providence, RI…Paul Harden, Executive Director of America’s Cup Rhode Island 2012 and staff member of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, was named “Rhode Island Boater of the Year” by the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association (RIMTA) at the Providence Boat Show. Mr. Harden received the group’s John H. Chafee Award, named after the former Rhode Island Governor and Senator who worked tirelessly on behalf of the marine industry when he was in office.

RIMTA Business Roundtable 2012

The RIMTA Roundtable will be held at the19th Annual Providence Boat Show, on Friday, January 13, 2012. The Roundtable topic this year will focus on the newly formed Oceans Caucus of the U. S. Senate and its impact on the Marine Trades. The Caucus will work to increase awareness and find common ground in responding to issues facing the oceans and coasts, which support millions of jobs in America and contribute more to the country’s GDP than the entire farm sector, grossing more than $230 billion in 2004.

Rhode Island Marine Trades Day On the East Bay planned for April 30, 2011

April 18, 2011…Open Houses sponsored by the Rhode Island Marine Trades Association as part of its BOATS WORK for RHODE ISLAND initiative will be held at selected marine trades businesses on Saturday, April 30th from 9 AM to 12 Noon. In Bristol, the event will be at the East Bay Industrial Park off both Tupelo Street and Gooding Avenue, the Franklin Street Marine Corridor, and at Bristol Marine on Poppasquash Road . Marine companies in these areas will be giving tours to introduce the boating industry to local and state officials, neighbors, business partners and associates, people interested in a marine industry career including those looking for training opportunities, and the general public. In Warren, Pearson Marine Group on Market Street will be open for visitors. This event is Free and open to the general public.

Marine Industry Roundtable to be held At Providence Boat Show

The Rhode Island Marine Trades Association will be hosting a presentation and discussion by boating industry leaders and a State economic development executive looking at things happening in the state and in the industry and their impact on the State’s economy. Moderated by Mark Murphy, Editor of Providence Business News, the event will take place on Thursday, January 13 at 2 PM in the Fifth Floor Rotunda of the Rhode Island Convention Center, prior to the 4 PM opening of the Providence Boat Show.

Boats Work For RI BigSuccess At Providence Boat Show

As part of the Providence Boat Show at the Rhode Island Convention Center, the RI Marine Trades Association featured a Roundtable Discussion on opening day plus a RIMTA Pavilion presenting the new “Boats Work for RI” initiative. The discussion topic was “The Future of Jobs in the Marine Industry” here in Rhode Island and what the industry means to the Rhode Island economic community. The Governor opened the program with his remarks and welcomed the standing room only audience of representatives of businesses, schools, state officials and legislators, the community and the media. Mark Murphy, Editor of the Providence Business News was the moderator and participates in the discussion were Paul Harden, Manager/Business & Workforce Development, RI Economic Development Corp., Steven Kitchin, V.P./Corp.
